Flood

Discover Jars of Clay!

I got a photo of my friends' yard when it rained hard in Hanoi last October 31.

I missed the flood but I'm thankful I did not have to wade through all those water to get home. Most people ride motorbikes through the streets of Hanoi and if you got caught in the rain, chances are you'd be swimming back home as you push your motorbike through the water. It's tough. If the water went in the house that's another story. That would mean more cleaning and washing and drying days after that.

I just got reminded by a song "Flood" by Jars of Clay and I've been meditating on it today. We all come to a point when we feel like we're drowning. Knowing there's Someone who could lift me up gives me strength.

Flood
JARS OF CLAY

Rain, rain on my face
It hasn't stopped raining for days
My world is a flood
Slowly I become one with the mud

Chorus

But if I can't swim after forty days
and my mind is crushed by the thrashing waves
Lift me up so high that I cannot fall
Lift me up
Lift me up - when I'm falling
Lift me up - I'm weak and I'm dying
Lift me up - I need you to hold me
Lift me up - Keep me from drowning again

Downpour on my soul
Splashing in the ocean, I'm losing control
Dark sky all around
I can't feel my feet touching the ground

Calm the storms that drench my eyes
Dry the streams still flowing
Cast down all the waves of sin
And guilt that overthrow me

Lift me up - when I'm falling
Lift me up - I'm weak and I'm dying
Lift me up - I need you to hold me
Lift me up - Keep me from drowning again
